Mr. John “Junius” Sonnier

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Katherine Catholic Church in Leonville, LA, for John “Junius” Sonnier, 85, who entered eternal rest, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, LA.

Interment will be in St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery in Leonville, LA.

Mr. Sonnier is survived by his children, five sons, Joseph Alexander (Jennifer) of Houston, TX, James Sonnier of Fort Worth, TX, Ray A. Sonnier of Breaux Bridge, LA, Charles Thompson of Opelousas, LA and John Sonnier, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; eight daughters, Virginia Moore (Adam), Janet Nelson (Nathan), Shirley Banks all of Lake Charles, LA, Edna Sonnier of Houston, TX, Mary Lee Arrington (Rodger), Patsy Sonnier both of Shubuta, MS, Carla Sonnier and Bernadette Toussaint (Gerald) both of Opelousas, LA; a sister, Mary Tyler of Arnaudville, LA; 39 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

Mr. Sonnier was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham & Ida Sonnier; four brothers, Philbert, Clifton, Albert and Wilton Sonnier; six sisters, Edna Sonnier, Lorena Keys, Lillian Davis, Irena Auzenne, Octavia Auzenne and Aline Sonnier.

Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
