Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Ninth Baptist Church, 726 North Latour Street, Ville Platte, LA for Mr. Calton Edwards, 89. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Ninth Baptist Church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. As the sun cast its morning light upon Ville Platte, Louisiana on September 21, 1934, a fresh day dawned, signifying a new beginning in the life of Calton Edwards. On the peaceful morning of October 14, 2023, he transitioned to the next chapter of his existence. He was surrounded by family, leaving a void that can never be filled. A man of few words but limitless strength and reliability, Calton earned the trust and respect of everyone who knew him. Baptized at a young age, he remained a devoted member of the Ninth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Darwin Lazard. Born to Armance Jacobs and Leus Edwards, Cal was a devoted husband to his late wife, Octavia L. Edwards, and a loving father to Savour Fields and Melissa Edwards-Green (Alton Green). He was a doting grandfather to Wylesha Fields and a joyful great-grandfather to Asé Fields. He also held dear a brother-in-law and a vast circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Calton was preceded in death by his parents Leus and Armance Edwards, wife Octavia L. Edwards, sister Everlyn Ben, and brother Felton Edwards, Sr. His family meant the world to him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, unity, and cherished memories. Let us remember his quiet but impactful presence, his love for family, and his unwavering faith in God. May he rest in eternal peace, and we thank God for the time shared with us.
