Mary Ruby Gordon

Mary Ruby Garrette Gordon Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Mrs. Mary Ruby Garrette Gordon, age 87, who died on November 15, 2012 at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas, LA after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Grand Coteau, LA and a resident of Opelousas, LA. She had a fun-loving personality, enjoyed family gatherings, and cared for many loved ones over the years. Interment will be held in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Opelousas. Msgr. Keith DeRouen and Deacon Jerome Collins will officiate the services. Survivors of Ruby (as she insisted on being called) includes a son, Allen Gordon, Jr. and his wife Melissa Frilot Gordon of Opelousas, along with their children Nichole Gordon Miller and her husband Dustin Miller and their daughter Taylor Miller; Lance Gordon and his wife Natalie Lemelle Gordon and their twin daughters Malaiah & Rhea Gordon. She is also survived by an extended family that she loved and cherished as though they were her own, which includes a son Herbert Gordon of Humble, TX, daughter Helen Huntley and her husband Sam of Humble, TX, and son in-law Bill Warner of Houston, TX, along with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends of whom she cherished. Many of these helped in her care during her illness. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Allen Gordon, Sr., her parents Walter Garrette & Alfrieda Briscoe Garrette, sisters, brothers, Justine Auzenne Gordon (daughter in-law), Gail Gordon Warner (daughter), Debra Warner (grand-daughter). Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00am-11:30am on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 10:30am by Deacon Jerome Collins. The family would also like to thank the staff of St. Landry Extended Care Hospital, The Woundcare Center of Opelousas, Opelousas General Health System, Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care of Opelousas, St. Landry Homecare, Dr. Patrick Gillespie, Dr. Calvin White, and all of her physicians that sought to her medical needs.
