BERTHA BUSH Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Lebeau, Louisiana, for Mrs. Bertha Romar Bush, 79, who peacefully departed on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System, in Opelousas, LA Bertha Romar Bush was born Sept 11, 1930 to the late Leo “Snow” Romar and Theresa Guidry Romar. She was united in holy matrimony to James O. Bush Sr. To this union 13 children were born. On May 5, 2010 at 11:15 p.m. Bertha was called by God and she answered. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her son; James “June” O. Bush Jr., her parents; Leo and Theresa; a very special stepmother Elizabeth Rideau Romar; her brother, Davis Romar, and a very special aunt, Mamie Bush. Bertha was born and raised in Rideau Settlement and received her education in Palmetto, LA. Bertha was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was known and loved by the community. She was a poll commissioner for many years and worked with the Council on Aging and the Senior Companion program. She was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Lebeau, where for many years she helped plan the church’s largest fundraising event. Bertha’s sister, Mary Louise Romar Simon said: “Everyone who knew Bert knew she was a good neighbor and a mother and grandmother to everyone.” Family was the most important part of Bertha’s life. She leaves behind her sister, Mary Louise, 8 sons: Leo “Mike” Bush (Judy) of Palmetto, LA; Joseph Bush (Marva) of Harvey, LA; Bernard “Motsie” Bush, Ray Anthony “Tony” Bush of Rosa, LA; Charles “Chuck” Bush (Rose) of Elton, LA; Gerard Bush of Sacramento, CA; Gregory Bush (Helen) of Carencro, LA; Gary Bush of Houston, TX and a godson, Wallace “Booster” Landrio of Duson, LA and four daughters: Michelle Miller (Ted) of Palmetto, LA; Susan Bush of Orlando, FL; Christie Bush Gay (James) of Opelousas, LA and Monique Hicks (Shawn) of Rosa, LA. She also leaves behind 42 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation hours will be observed from 8:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Lebeau, LA. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery, in Lebeau, LA. Rev. Walter Cerbin, S.S.J will officiate at Mass of Christian burial. Williams Funeral Home of Opelousas, 337-942-2037, is in charge of the arrangements.
