Ms. Debra Lynn Robertson

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” Psalm 116:15 KJV Ms. Debra Robertson was born on March 14, 1953, to Beatrice and Wilson Robertson in Melville, Louisiana. Most of her education was at Phillis Wheatley High School, however, due to integration, she received her diploma from Melville High School. Debra accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emma Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Joshua Frank. She lived in Houston, Texas, for several years but later moved back home, where she worked various jobs in Melville, Louisiana. She was affectionately called "Ms. Deb" by the citizens of Melville and surrounding areas. Debra departed this life on December 23, 2024. Her memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her children: Carey (Lysonia) of Abbeville, Louisiana, Claudette of Melville, Louisiana, and Jarret (Eugenia) of Houston, Texas. She will also be deeply missed by her beloved siblings: Kenneth Robertson, Kirk Robertson (Barbara), Terrence Robertson (Andrea), Ruby Doyle, Sylvia Robertson, Janice Johnson, and Chanda Adams (Kenneth). Debra’s legacy continues through her precious grandchildren: Yontesha Smith, Billy Smith III, Trenece Robertson, Travion Vaughs, Aliesha Smith, Sharece Robertson, Byron Smith, Dylan Robertson, Deion Robertson, Jarrett Robertson Jr., Kayshaun Robertson, Bryan Robertson, and Zhandon Robertson; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Dru Guy, Drace Robertson, and Baby Vaughns, who is soon to arrive. A special place in her heart was held by her dear nephew, Arlington Robertson (Saundra) and two godsons, Wesley Robertson and John Bowie. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends shared their own unique bonds with her, ensuring her love and warmth will never be forgotten. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Wilson Robertson; her brothers, Henry Dixon, Gordon Dixon, Alvin Robertson, Donald Robertson, Darryl Robertson, and Gary Robertson; her maternal grandparents, Sally and Richard Wesley; her paternal grandparents, Hattie and Carey Robertson; and a very special aunt, Kitty "Nannie" Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Emma Zion Baptist Church in Melville, LA. Visitation will be observed from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Sweet Home Cemetery in Melville, LA.
