Mr. Ernest “Charles” Lewis OPELOUSAS- Funeral service for Ernest “Charles" Lewis will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be held in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Rev. Albert Tezeno will officiate the services. Mr. Ernest Charles Lewis, 64, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his residence in Opelousas after a brief illness with cancer. He was a native of Opelousas, LA. Charles began his course of education at JS Clark High School and graduated in 1967. He furthered his education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, earning a BS degree in Business. After graduating from college, he worked for over 45 yrs. in grocery management and at John L. Soileau Incorporated as a Warehouse Supervisor. Charles’ hobbies included hunting and fishing. Mourning his departure, while cherishing precious and joyful memories are his loving wife of 41 years, Lucy Felix Lewis of Opelousas, LA; three daughters, Monique Lewis of Dallas, TX, Andrea Lewis Eugene (Jaszmine) of Prairieville, LA., Kristy Lewis of Lafayette, LA; one son, Terrell Lewis of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Troy Brazier Jr. and Collins Eugene; three brothers: Herbert Lewis, Jr. (Dorothy) of Opelousas, LA, Oliver Ray Lewis (Vera) of New Iberia, LA, and John Edward Lewis of Marlborough, MA; five sisters: Doris L. Harris, Dian Lewis, Patsy A. Lewis of Opelousas, LA, Shirley Lewis-Russell of Alabaster, AL and Debra R. Lewis-Thibodeaux of Calera, AL; one surviving uncle and patriarch, Roy Lewis Sr. of Opelousas, LA; two brothers-in-law: Ozie Felix Sr., Augustus Felix, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Lewis Sr.; his mother, Lela Ware Lewis, one brother, James Lewis; one nephew, Jovan St. Jacque Thibodeaux; paternal grandparents, Eugene Lewis and Amelia Owens Lewis; maternal grandparents, Ernest “Jack” Ware and Eva Brown Ware along with his biological maternal grandmother, Mary Bienvenieu; father and mother-in-law, Augustus Felix, Sr. and Sophie L. Felix; brothers-in-law, Clifton Winbush and Nathan Felix. Visiting hours will be observed from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. Visitation will continue from 7:30 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA.
