Glenn Ross Obituary With profound sadness and heavy hearts, The Ross Family announces the passing of their beloved Farley Glenn Ross, a devoted son, father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on July 11, 2025 at the age of 71. Born on September 21, 1953 and affectionately known as Glenn, was a man of unwavering faith, strong values, and immeasurable compassion. A proud Christian, he lived his life rooted in doing what was right and always placing the needs of others before his own. His kindness, generosity, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. Glenn attended Holy Ghost from 1st grade to graduation. He was a member of the last graduating class at Holy Ghost in 1971. He was an All Star basketball player on one of the best teams Holy Ghost put out. He signed a full scholarship with Xavier University where he teamed up with a super star group of talent including “Slick” Watts and Bruce Seals who went on to become NBA stars. Xavier is where he met and married his “Soul Mate”, Laverne Broyard. He began his marriage working in a variety of fields including pest control and insurance. He found his calling when he went to work for Southern Medical Mart where he workedhis way all the way up to store manager. He retired from SMM early after Verne was diagnosed with MS at a very young age. He devoted his life to Verne’s care and the raising of Kerrie and Lil Glenn. They resided in New Orleans until Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005. They moved to Opelousas where they joined our parents but still maintained their home in New Orleans that they visited frequently. Glenn reinvented himself in Opelousas as he developed an affinity with the Real Estate profession. He bought, renovated, sold or rented several properties and established lifelong relationships with his tenants. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles and Wilda Ross, his beloved wife LaVerne Ross, his cherished son Glenn Michael Ross, and his uncle, Daniel Alsandor. During the final years of his wife's, son's, and parents' lives, Glenn stood by them with courage and grace caring for them through illness and comforting them in their final moments. His sacrifice, strength, and tenderness defined the true essence of his character. Glenn leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. He is survived by his loving daughter Kerrie Ross; his only grandson Melvin Taylor, his brothers: Kevin Ross (Lori), Chuck Ross (Monica), and Dwayne Ross (Maria); his nieces: Kai Ross, Sydney Ross, Chloé Ross, Amanda Bonam, Alyssa Lastrapes, Davonia Alsandor, and Danielle Alsandor; his nephews: Johnathan Ross, Kevin Ross Jr., and Charles Ross Jr, and Kirk Lastrapes.; his precious great-nieces and great-nephews: Camila Ross, Princeton Ross, and Houston Ross; and his beloved godchild Zoey Semien, who held a special place in his heart. Known for his warm smile and quick wit, Glenn was always full of jokes and joy. He had a gift for making others feel loved, seen, and uplifted. To know him was to experience the kind of care that comes from someone who truly embodied what it means to love unconditionally. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Holy Ghost Parish Life Center in Opelousas, LA. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
