Mrs. Felozia Ann Thomas Reed

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Mrs. Felozia Ann Thomas Reed, 90, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, in Houston Methodist Hospital. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Darren Eldridge, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Mrs. Reed is survived by two sons, Anthony Reed and Thomas Reed; three daughters, Lucille Reed Rose, Ophelia Reed Gibbs and Verlia Josette Reed Byrd; three brothers, Joseph J. Thomas, Lealand Thomas and Carlton Thomas, Jr.; three sisters, Philoman Thomas Mayon, Janella Thomas Beverly and Elizabeth Thomas Green; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Reed; parents, Carlton Thomas, Sr. and Lucille Alsandor; two brothers, Harold Thomas and Henry Thomas; four sisters, Verna Johnson, Lou Anna Williams, Verlia Lewis and Rose Mary Richard; five grandsons, Alquince Gibbs, Mark Reed, Dylan Brown, Jonathan Reed and Jermaine Roberts. Felozia Ann Thomas Reed was born to Lucille and Carlton Thomas on October 9, 1932, in Leonville, Louisiana, the second of 13 children, and the apple of her father's and her grandfather's eye. Mrs. Felozia attended school in Leonville and married her childhood sweetheart, Earnest Reed, of Arnaudville, Louisiana, and ambitiously moved to Houston, Texas, where they purchased a home and bore 5 successful, loving children in Sunnyside, Texas. Always ahead of her time, Mrs. Felozia, with her sharp mind, had a natural aptitude for business, counseling, and encouragement and was a life coach before life coaches existed. She utilized her giftings and talents to create and manage a home health care program, where she managed providers serving Houston’s elite community, most notably, Attorney Glen Rosenbaum, a Patron of the Arts in Houston, Texas. If you met Mrs. Felozia, you would find her a warm, open, and intuitive person that one would find easy to talk to and confide in. As generous as she was in providing advice, she was exceedingly generous in helping others. She often assisted others financially when they encountered hard times, most times never requiring reimbursement. She took great joy in making others happy, often at her own lack. Mrs. Felozia was deemed the Counselors’ Counselor. Her sage wisdom, nonjudgmental, loving, and empathic spirit drew many that needed a mother/grandmother figure in their lives, and as such, she had dozens of adoptive children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger, and to know her was to absolutely fall in love with her and to never forget her. Mrs. Felozia retired in 2010, where she spent her remaining years loving and providing for her family, counseling by phone, and serving the Lord. She departed her earthly home on July 8, 2023, and she will be mourned and greatly missed by her family, friends, and community for such a great loss. A Phenomenal Woman, her legacy will be felt for generations to come, as there will never be another. Affectionately known as "Grandma" to grandkids and non-grandkids alike, Mrs. Felozia was a gift from God to all and was deemed “Queen Mother, The Matriarch and Our Angel on Earth.” Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Williams Funeral Home.
