Mr. Felton Sam, Sr. A Celebration of Life service honoring Mr. Felton Sam, Sr., 78, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Bellevue Street Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Mr. Sam peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his residence in Opelousas. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 8:00 AM at the church, as we come together to celebrate his life, legacy and cherished memories. Interment will follow in Old Grand Prairie Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Mr. Sam leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 7 years, Maxie Lewis Sam of Opelousas, LA; one son, Joseph Sam (Adrienne) of Opelousas, LA; one stepson, Kyrah Offord; one stepdaughter, Carrie Tezeno; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Lee Sam, Alice Johnson, Barbara Johnson Lewis, Ethel Johnson, Linda Johnson, Joseph Johnson (Alice), John Celestine, Sr., Rosa Johnson, Annie Johnson Benjamin (Horace), Cecilia Johnson, Pearlie Mae Johnson, Bonnie Armstrong, Freddie Offord, Rev. Johnnie Offord and Ollie Offord. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ja’Maurice Comeaux (Janique), Jaylon Sonnier, Sr. (Shaylin), De’Courion Sam Sr., Daja Levier, Shatavin “Stank” Sam, Ayanna Sam, Mya Sam, Brayden Sam and Alivia Sam; four step grandchildren, Kavon, Jakari, Harmony and Elijah; sixteen great grandchildren, Payton, Paris, Amari, Kylen, Ava, Laila, Zayden, Demi, Jayce, Jaylon, Jr., De’Courion, Jr., Robyn, Ja’Zyria, Brentley, Carsyn and Acelyn; seven godchildren, Phyllis Johnson, Linda Marie Broussard, Amber Lazard, Nicholas Charles, Kendall Richard, Ja’Ceric Johnson and Rana Jackson; double nieces and nephews, Elton, Jr., Charlene, Angela, the late Elijah, Sr., Jeremiah, Sr., Miranda and Jemima and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Rosette Sam; his wife of 45 years, Eula Mae Johnson Sam; father and mother-in-law, Albert Johnson, Sr. & Selena Simms Johnson and Herman Offord, Sr. & Beatrice Offord; one son, Felton "Twee-d" Sam, Jr.; siblings, Ruby Small, Elijah Sam, David Sam, Odelia Chambers (Ernest, Sr.), Mary Dee Sam, Ora Simien (Merrick) and Elton Sam, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Albert Johnson Jr., Nathaniel Johnson Sr., Jerry Johnson, Vincent Johnson Sr., Lillian Broussard (Harry), Lily Johnson, Rosella Celestine, Gregory Offord, Larry Offord, Raymond Offord, Herman Offord, Jr., Gwendolyn Offord Davis and Lillian Marie Offord - Moten (Wayne); two nephews, Isaiah Johnson Rue and Raymond Offord, Jr.; two nieces, Patricia Brown and Sharika Edwards; a nephew and godchild, Elijah Albert Sam, Sr. Family and friends are invited to share words of comfort, support and memories with the family by visiting the online guestbook at www.williamsfuneralhomes.net Family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a meal and fellowship following the service at the Washington Community Center in the town of Washington.
