June 23, 1937 - April 15, 2010) MRS. GLORIA VALLIEN Opelousas, Louisiana Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, in Opelousas, LA., for Mrs. Gloria Vallien, 72, who peacefully departed Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System, in Opelousas, LA. Mrs. Gloria Vallien was a graduate of Grambling State University where she received a B.S. in elementary education, a M.Ed. from Southern University, and Sp.Ed. (Specialist) degree (30+) from University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL). Mrs. Vallien enjoyed a long tenure as a teacher in the St. Landry Parish School System, particularly at Creswell Elementary, where she taught most of her career. Mrs. Vallien was a long-standing member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies’ Auxiliary Court #76. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park, in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Angelo Cremaldi and Rev. Denis Osuagwa, C.M.F both will officiate at the Mass of Christian burial. Mourning her departure, while cherishing her precious memories, is her loving husband, John Anthony Vallien of Opelousas, LA with whom she was beautifully connected for 49 years and 10 months. She is also survived by her children, one son, Don Anthony Vallien (Alishia) of Opelousas, LA.; four daughters, Angie Fields (Howard “Joe”) of Opelousas, LA., Lisa Moore (Jeffrey) of Jacksonville, Florida, Gina Readore (Manuel) of Opelousas, LA. and Tykee Jackson (Leslie, Jr.) of Birmingham, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Lindsey Payne, Katherine Jackson, Niyah Hampton, Michael Fields, Christian Moore, Antonio Vallien, Loren Jackson, Sterling Readore and Anderson Readore and a host of other relatives and special friends, who will miss her dearly. Mrs. Vallien was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling & Clemabelle Alex Clark. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, in Opelousas, LA.
