Mrs. Hazel Fontenot Harris

ATTENTION !!! Due to the continuing health emergency the family of Mrs. Hazel Fontenot Harris respectfully ask that those attending the Celebration of Life for Mrs. Harris adhere to the Pastor and church requirements that face mask/coverings be worn and submitting to temperature checks upon entering the sanctuary. Note that capacity of the church will be strictly adhered to, and doors will be closed once the 250 capacity is reached. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1300 5th Street, Mamou, LA 70554 for Mrs. Hazel Fontenot Harris, Deaconess. Interment will be in St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor/Teacher, Rev. Albert Ray Johnson will officiate the Celebration of Life. “The beauty of one’s life cannot be measured in years, nor the sorrow of a broken heart be measured in years, love has no end nor bounds. On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in the early part of the night, Hazel quietly answered her Master's call, before we opened our eyes to the dawn of a new day.” Sister Hazel Mae Fontenot-Harris was born, January 29, 1928, in Mamou, LA. She was the oldest born to the late Adules “Big Joe” Fontenot and Armoza Wilson Fontenot. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Amogene Frank and Rev. Joshua G. Frank. She continued to serve as a deaconess with the present Pastor, Rev. Albert Ray Johnson until her health failed. This is where she was baptized and received Christ as her Lord and Savior. Hazel united in marriage to Deacon Eddie Harris and to this union seven (7) children were born, (4) four daughters and (3) three sons of whom (2) two daughters: Rosa Lee and Diana Harris preceded her in death. Sis. Hazel Harris leaves to forever cherish her memory: her (2) two daughters, Georgia Harris Stevens of Opelousas, LA and Mary Harris Collins of Houston, TX; (3) three sons, Edward and Rogers Harris of Mamou, LA and Earnest J. Harris of Opelousas, LA.; one brother, Wilfred Fontenot of Houston, TX, (15) grandchildren, (3) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Harris, (2) daughters, (2) sons-in-law, Earl Stevens and Walter Collins, a sister and (3) brothers. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 7:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at St. Paul Baptist Church, Mamou, LA. Share words of comfort with the family of Sis.
