Mr. John Nolan Duchene “Buddy” “BO” OPELOUSAS- Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Mr. John Nolan Duchene, 84, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Opelousas General Health System. Father Jaison Mangalath, SVD will officiate the mass of Christion burial. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park. John leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary Burleigh Duchene of Opelousas, LA; four sons, Harold Antoine (Rose) of Lafayette, LA; Hayward Antoine (Candy) of San Francisco, CA; Eddie Burleigh (Geraldine) of Jackson, MS; and Merrick Burleigh (Caldonia) of Beaumont, TX; a daughter, Annie Braden of Opelousas, LA; two brothers, Roland Duchene (Audrey) of El Sobrante, California and Richard Green, of New Orleans, LA; six sisters, Mary Gaines and Lucy Stelly of Opelousas, LA; Evelda Guillory of Eunice, LA; Lucy Sylvannia Stelly, Elizabeth Hargrove, and Felicia Sockwell all of Houston, TX; five brothers-in-law, Stewart Gains of New Orleans, LA; Marshall Thomas, Leonard Thomas (Anna), Sidney Thomas (Doris) and George Thomas all of Opelousas, LA; four sisters-in-law, Lucy Malveaux, Mable Stanberry, Pearl Johnson, and Cora (Calvin) Labbe all of Opelousas, LA; 7 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Mr. Duchene was preceded in death by his parents Carlton Green and Mary Duchene; his first wife, Bertha Zachary; a brother, James “Jimmy” Walker; two daughters, Coritha and Bernice Antoine; his beloved uncles and aunts Paul, Earnest, Alex, Jerome, and Ollie Duchene, Angeline Thorn, and Rita Monroe. The Duchene family request visiting hours be observed from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 AM.
