Lawtell, LA – A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia (Gallien) Lavergne will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Family Catholic Church, Lawtell, LA. Father Stanley Jawa will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in Lawtell, LA. Visitation will be held on the same day from 8:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. in Holy Family Catholic Church with a rosary being recited at 9:15 A.M. Julia was born on July 19, 1923 (almost 100 years old) to Jacques and Clemence Bellard Gallien in Lawtell, LA. She was a lifelong resident of Lawtell, where she was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver; Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady of Grace Court #130 for over 50 years. Julia departed this life on March 30, 2023. She was united in marriage for 75 years to Morris Lavergne, Sr. To this marriage union five children were born; three sons – Lt. Col. (ret.) Linton Lavergne of Lawtell, LA, Morris Lavergne, Jr. and wife Theresa of Lawtell, LA, Rev. Patrick Lavergne and wife Felicia of Lawtell, LA; two daughters, Glenda LeCompte and husband Ronald of Lake Charles, LA, Patricia Chavis and husband Kevin of Richmond, TX; (10) grandchildren, (21) great-grandchildren, (7) great-great-grandchildren and a special niece who was a big part of her life, Emelda Colomb, as well as, a host of family, loved ones and special friends who along with her husband Morris, Sr. and children will all cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy. Preceding Julia in death were her parents Jacques and Clemence Gallien, five brothers: Sidney, Simon, Jack, Simeon and Andrew; four sisters: Mary Aaron, Ena Garrick, Odelia Guillory and Wilda Brown.
