Obituary Larry James Fournier A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at St. Katherine Catholic Church in Leonville, LA. Visiting Hours will be observed from 7:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the church. Interment will be Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Kenneth Domingue will officiate at the Mass. Larry James Fournier was born on December 07, 1941 in Leonville, LA to Sosthen and Florence Meullion Fournier. He departed from this life, surrounded by family and friends, On August 13, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at his home in Prairie Laurent, LA. Larry James Fournier graduated from J.S. Clark high school in 1961 and became a carpenter by trade. After being called to serve his country for 2 years in the United States Army, Larry returned home to continue his carpentry works for many years. He later worked and retired from the St. Landry Parish School Board after 16 years of distinguished service. He served as an officer in his beloved Inseperable Friends Benevolent Society (I.F.B.S.) for 35 years of his 38 years of dedicated membership. His untiring work and commitment to the I.F.B.S. was evident throughout his time there. Larry was also a member of the knights of Peter Claver and the American Legion. He was also a faithful member of St. Jules Catholic Church. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who held true to his belief of “God and family First.” Always keen to lending a helping hand, Larry forged many friendships and enjoyed all of his time with his “Ro’s”. Mourning his departure yet cherishing his wonderful life and marriage of 44 years is his (wife) Mary Ann Auzenne Fournier. (Daughters)Donna Fournier Carey (Michael) of Youngsville, La, Monica Fournier Declouet (Dell) of Scott, La, and his son Bradley Fournier (Marshelle) of Austin, TX. Six Grandchildren: Halli, Haili and Delvin Declouet, Jasmyn Lemuel, Quentin Carey and Jayden Fournier. Two brothers, Simon Howard Fournier (Catherine) and St. Ange Martin Fournier (Ashley) both of Opelousas, La. One sister, Valerie Lachapelle of Prairie Laurent, La. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his infant Daughter Bridgette Fournier, His parents Sosthen and Florence Fournier; one brother-in-law, Webster Lachapelle, and one sister-in-law Doris Fournier. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Williams Funeral Home of Opelousas, 337-942-2037.
