Mrs. Michelle Marie Bernard McInnis

Michelle Marie Bernard was born on February 24, 1959 in Lafayette, LA. On January 27, 2025, Michelle departed this life at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. Michelle was the first child to the late Marion Delores Williams Bernard and Percy Bernard Sr. She was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. C. J. Boswell at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Michelle attended school in Opelousas, La and graduated from Opelousas High School in 1977. She attended Jackson State University for two years, and transferred to Southern University, where she graduated in 1982 with a Degree in Interior Design. Michelle married Leroy McInnis on December 19, 2000. She worked in retail and merchandising most of her career and was able to retire from Belk in 2022. Michelle was a soft-spoken person, and she was very loving and caring. Michelle was gifted and talented in decorating. She loved to sew, and her Christmas decorations and bows were always perfect. Michelle loved her family and friends, and she had a special place in her heart for children. Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents and 5 brothers. Michelle leaves to mourn her husband, Leroy McInnis of Jackson, Mississippi; one brother, Daune Bernard of Opelousas, Louisiana; three sisters, Darla Bernard and Dana Bernard of Opelousas, LA and Deneen Patterson (Anthony) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three nephews, Brent Jenkins and Benjamin Bernard of Opelousas, Louisiana and Antonio Patterson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two god daughters, La’Shay Hayes of Jackson, Mississippi and Kayla Patio of Lafayette, Louisiana; special Mississippi friends, Judy Gibson-White and Jean Thompson and family of Jackson, Mississippi and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Little Zion Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Little Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Park. Rev. Calvin J.
