Mr. Norbert J. Auzenne On Sunday morning, June 13, 2021, God came to Norbert’s bed and whispered in his ear and quickly led him home. His earthly life ended, and he was taken to Heaven for his final rest at the glorious age of eighty. No one will ever fill this void. Now, he is with his parents, relatives, and friends in a new home at a different address. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park. Norbert Joseph Auzenne was born on June 6, 1941, to the late Octave and Octavia Auzenne in Opelousas, LA. Norbert attended J.S. Clark High School and graduated in 1960. Following graduation, he worked in the Construction Industry for 13 years. He was a master carpenter and could construct and design any project entrusted to him with finesse and perfection. Norbert was an extremely hard worker and good provider. He strived to make a better life for his family and enrolled at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (ULL) and Louisiana State University. He earned a certification as an Instructor in the World of Construction and taught for 28 years in this field for the St. Landry Parish School System. Norbert was joined in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Ann Fontenot on October 9, 1965. They were blessed with 55 years of love, happiness, and wonderful memories. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Monique and Racheal. He was active in a number of endeavors and affiliation which included: Parent-teacher Organization, Frontiers International Opelousas Club-Outstanding Frontiersmen 1985 for Outstanding Services, Charter member of the Coteau-Fort Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department (President and Firefighter), J.S. Clark Alumni Association, Williams Funeral Home Advisory Board, American Association of Retired Persons, Retired Teachers Association of St. Landry Parish, Knights of Columbus Council 11270 Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (served as Chancellor for many years), 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Nursing Home Rosary Team Leader, and his beloved Inseparable Friends Benevolent Society where he served in several leadership positions: Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Lodge Manager, President (11 years), and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Norbert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Fontenot Auzenne and two daughters, Erika Monique Auzenne – Milton (Kevin) and Racheal L. Auzenne of Opelousas, LA; one grandson, Nathaniel Milton; one granddaughter, Alexis Milton; three sisters, Margie Serie of Ville Platte, LA, Natalie Gordon (Aaron) of Opelousas, LA and Mary Rosalie Auzenne – Meullion of Leonville, LA; Godchildren, Delores Barnaba, Tara Gauthier, Gretchen Latigue – Price, Shondra Ewing and Stacie Fontenot, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Octavia Auzenne; a brother, Richard Manuel Auzenne; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Serie and James Meullion. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM to 12:45 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home.
