Mr. Perry James Rideau

Lebeau- Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024 Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lebeau, LA, for Mr. Perry James Rideau, age 66. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Rideau was born on October 12, 1958, in Lafayette Louisiana and was reared in Rideau Settlement, Louisiana, a community founded by his 2nd great grandfather Zenon Rideau. Mr. Rideau died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Survivors include: his wife, Ethel Louise Blossom Rideau; two sons, Dr. Desmond Earl Rideau (Deondranique) and Julian Perron Rideau (Ivy) both of Rideau Settlement; four brothers, Thomas Rideau (Edna), Michael Rideau (Augusta), John Rideau (Betty) and Warren Rideau (Judy) all of Rideau Settlement; one sister, Joyce Metoyer (Wayne) of Bossier City; his Godmother, Dorothy Collins of California; a bonus daughter, Alicia Bowman of Opelousas; a bonus granddaughter, Vivica Bowman of Opelousas; and host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl & Julia Labrie Rideau, his Godfather, Wydell Daniel; his father-in-law, Willie Blossom; his mother-in-law, Hilda Edwards Blossom; his only godchild, Shenada Rideau Davis; one grandnephew, Christopher James Rideau and a host of aunts and uncles. Mr. Rideau spent approximately fourteen years as a case worker for the Louisiana Dept. of Children & Family Services. He later spent more than seventeen years as a Licensed Addictive Counselor in Lafayette, Acadia, & Evangeline Parishes for the Louisiana Dept. of Health and after retirement, in the private sector. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. Mr. Rideau was an extremely outgoing free spirited optimistic individual, who loved helping the misfortunate, always seeing the positive in people. He loved his community and his community loved him as he did not have any enemies. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, all donations can be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Project Hope. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Williams Funeral Home of Opelousas, 337-942-2037.
