Ms. Sandra Gardiner Pitre

Sandra Gardiner Pitre Sandra affectionately known as “Big Mama” to her siblings and “Nanny” to her nieces and nephews enjoyed cooking, bingo and hosting her annual Thanksgiving and Good Friday celebrations. She was devoted to her family and work family at Grand Coteau Elementary and the Thensted Outreach Center. She will be remembered by the way she served others. Sandra will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Takiyah Pitre Milton (William) of Grand Coteau, LA; three grandsons, Dataevius Markel Milton of Lake Charles, LA, Mekhi Milton and Malik Milton both of Grand Coteau, LA; one sister, Debra Gardiner Dugas of Grand Coteau, LA; three brothers, James Gardiner of Lake Charles, LA, Gary Gardiner and Michael Gardiner both of Grand Coteau, LA; two sisters-in-law, Dr. Merline Pitre of Houston TX and Sandra Taylor of Fort Washington, MD; one brother-in-law, Merrick Thomas of Lake Charles, LA; five aunts, Alice Jean Coleman, Elsie Guillory both of Lake Charles, LA, Mary Longshore of San Jose, CA, Monica Gardiner of Lafayette, LA and Ruby Gardiner of Grand Coteau, LA; two God-children, Kedric Smith (Tammara) of Lafayette, LA and Armyni Francis of Grand Coteau, LA; close cousins, Carolyn Jean of Grand Coteau, LA and Betty Walker Taylor of Arnaudville, LA, Alice Faye Bellard of Antiark, TN, Veronica Gordon of Houston, TX, Irene Victorian, Vicky Griffin and Cathy Stewart all of Lake Charles, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Pitre; parents, Royal Gardiner Sr. and Norma Gardiner; grandparents, Irene Johnson and Carlton Jones, Warren Gardiner Sr. and Octavia Williams Gardiner; one sister, Brenda Gardiner Winfield; two brothers, Royal Gardiner Jr. and John Merlyn Gardiner; three brothers-in-law, Nelson Dugas, Joseph Pitre, and Clarence Taylor; one sister-in-law, Betty Gardiner; one godchild, Derrick Gardiner.
