Mrs. Vergie L. Aaron

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas for Vergie L. Aaron. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Park. Rev. Gerald Toussaint, Pastor of Morning Star will officiate the Celebration of Life. Vergie Lee Aaron was born to Willie Aaron & Gladys Rhone Aaron on June 29, 1937, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Vergie accepted Christ as a child where the family attended Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reverend James Toussaint. Vergie married Milton Brown in 1953 and from that union was born one son, Hilton Ray Brown. Vergie attended Saint Landry Paris High School in Opelousas, Louisiana, she lived a short while in Little Rock, Arkansas to Chicago, 11 in 1965. From 1970 to 1986 she worked as a Nurse's Aide at Henrotin Hospital, she went on to graduate from nursing school with a Nursing Degree afterwards working as a Surgical Nurse for over 30 years at Northwestern Hospital from 1989 until 2013 where she retired. Past Worthy Matron Vergie Lee Aaron has been a member of St. John Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star for over 40 years. During her membership in the Order, she progressed to her higher degrees and served in several leadership positions and worked on various committees and auxiliaries. One of the highest honors she achieved was her Royal Ladies Degree which she received in 1979. She was a dedicated and faithful member and always mentored sisters on their O.E.S. journey. In 1982 she helped to open Electa Chapter No. 10, O.E.S. being one of the founding members of the chapter. Vergie was a loving mother, sister, auntie, and friend who loved entertaining and frequent the casinos. Vergie Lee Aaron passed away on June 30, 2022, she is preceded in death by her husband Milton Brown, son Hilton Ray Brown, Father Willie Aaron, Mother Gladys Rhone Aaron and seven sisters: Mattie Turner, Johnnie Lee Aaron, Lillie Rose Mallet, Isabelle Aaron Mullins, Peggie Aaron Roberts, Lois Marie Thibodaux and Lillian Irby. Virgie leaves to mourn three sisters and one brother: Edna Moore (IL), Rita Ann Wyckoff (AL), Carolyn Robins Walker (AZ) and Willie Aaron Jr. (LA); Seven grandchildren: Hilton Lastrapes, Chris Brown (Nichole), Derrick Brown, Chad Brown (Batister), Cynthia Brown, Keith Brown and Nakia Arclese, an honorary daughter Carolyn McNeil-Smith and (25) great grandchildren (21) great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
