Mrs. Victoria Auzenne Lewis

Victoria Auzenne Lewis Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Holy Ghost Catholic Church for Mrs. Victoria Auzenne Lewis, 95, whose earthly journey ended at 9:40 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at her daughter's home in Opelousas, LA. She was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Father Lambert A. Lein, SVD accompanied by Deacon Charles Richard will officiate the services. Victoria lived a full and beautiful life. She loved God and was a very faithful, prayerful, compassionate, generous, and nonjudgmental woman. She never met a stranger or anyone she could not or would not help. Victoria had many talents including being a seamstress since age 11. She was a phenomenal cake and pie baker. She was also known for her homemade wine, soap, hair growth grease, and healing balm. Everything she did, she did with her "loving best". Victoria was her family's Queen and Matriarch. She left a legacy of love and dignity. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Victoria is survived by two sons, Bernard J. Lewis, Jr. and his wife Mary of Opelousas, LA, Robert A. Lewis and Rev. Verronda Flanagan of Houston, TX; four daughters, Liler L. Florence and her husband Lucius, Della L. Manuel and her husband Martin Wayne of Opelousas, LA, Bernadine A.G. Lewis of Milwaukee, WI, and Sheila L. Otaluka of Phoenix, AZ; sixteen grandchildren, Lamaralus, Patrice, Bernard III, LaVonne, Christopher, Joshua, Donavon, Dominique, Janice, Peter, Christine, Victoria, Devin, Jaylon, Ross, and Ryan; one great grandson, Jylon; five stepsons who she loved as her own and their children, Kyle McLendon (Sabrina), Martin McLendon (Charlette), Anthony "TJoe" Savoy (Michelle), Dwight M. Lemon (Renee), and Vernon Lemon all of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Enez Cretien and Clementine Pickens of Opelousas, LA; one brother, Nathan Auzenne of Los Angeles, CA; her devoted neighbors and friends, Clara M. Davis and Octavia R. Tyler, her loving and devoted Senior Companion, Shirley Bryant, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, neighbors, and friends. Awaiting her arrival at the gates of Heaven were her husband, the late Bernard J. Lewis, Sr., her daughter, Vickie L. Lewis, her granddaughter, Michelle D. Lewis, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mederick Auzenne, four brothers, Antoine Auzenne, Raoul Auzenne, Elie Auzenne, and Jean Batiste Auzenne, one brother-in-law, Arthur Pickens, Sr., and three sisters-in-law, Amy Auzenne, Elta Auzenne, and Frances Auzenne. Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5-9pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Visitation will resume Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 7-8:45 am at Williams Funeral Home and from 9-11:45 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 11 am. Williams Funeral Home, 817 E. South Street, Opelousas, LA, is in charge of final arrangements.
