Mr. Vincent Simien Jr.

Mr. Vincent Simien, Jr., 91 years of age, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home. He was born on December 9, 1933, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to the late Vincent and Beatrice Simien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Parish Life Center in Opelousas, LA, with Father Justin Arockiasamy, S.V.D. officiating. Prior to the Mass, a wake service will begin at 8:00 AM, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park. He was a native of Opelousas, Louisiana, and lived his entire life there. He married the love of his life, Mercedes Lastrapes, whom he met when he made his first communion. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 70 years together. To this union, four boys were born: Donald, Keith, Clyde, and Gregory. Vincent was employed as a truck driver and worked at Olinde’s Furniture until his retirement. Vincent was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver for 55 years, and he served on the Board of Directors. He was one of the founding members of the Knights of Peter Claver Lodge, Council #8 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Vincent is preceded in death by both parents, Vincent and Beatrice Simien; brothers, Harry, Harold Bernard, Paul, Roland, Augustus, Burnell Paul, John, and Manuel; sisters, Elsie Luck, Rosie Mae, Laura Mae Phillips, Della Mae, Donna Bolden, Marie Carter, Rose Kyles, and Jo Ann; and his daughter-in-law, Margo. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mercedes; four sons: Donald, Keith (Jacqueline), Clyde (Patricia), and Gregory: one brother, Gerald Patrick (Chantel) and one sister, Sylvia Ann; ten grandchildren: Kaili, Keith II, Clyde II, Sade’, Alyce, Taylor, Sydni, Gregory II, Lance Andrus and Chaze Zenon; one godchild: Seleta Lemelle, two great grandchildren, Greyson and Kayli Grace, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
