Mr. Allen Oakley
March 9, 1948 - September 28, 2021
Mr. Allen “Lotty” Oakley On September 28th, 2021 God extended his mighty hand and summoned Allen “Lotty” Oakley to a higher realm. His earthly work being brought to a close is now time to receive his most just reward, and then join the many that have gone long before him. Allen was born to Roosevelt Oakley Sr. And Ada Bessie Bolden Oakley in Opelousas, LA on March 9th, 1948. He was united with Greater Union Baptist at an early age and subsequently baptized into the Christian faith. Allen was a very energetic and charismatic man whom everyone loved as soon as they met him. He was a hard worker and he was very strong in his faith. He believed in praying and made sure he prayed every night. When Allen was praying, he prayed for everyone he may have known or came across. Allen’s memories will also be cherished by two brothers, Roosevelt Oakley Jr. of Opelousas, LA and Aaron Earl Oakley of Palmetto, LA; four sisters, Dorothy Thomas (Willie) of Opelousas, LA, Anna Mae Wilson (Greg) of Baltimore, MD, Carolyn Crowder (James) of Opelousas, LA, and Helen Oakley (Henry) of Sumter, NC. Allen will also be missed and survived by a host of nieces and nephews, Roosevelt Oakley III, Morris Gloston Jr. (Mabel), Mario Gloston, Eddie Taylor Jr., Jerome Oakley, Christopher Taylor (Beatrice), Phillip Wilson (Nora), Jordan Gloston, James Crowder Jr., Kayla Gloston, and Rhoketta Richard (Oceanna). Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Ada Oakley and one sister, Mary Oakley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be observed from at 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Williams Funeral Home.
