Ms. Eva M. Janice Funeral services will be held for Eva Mae Janice on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Eva, 75, entered eternal rest on May 27, 2022, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park. Eva was the oldest of three children born from the union of the late Irene White and Octavio Janice. She was raised in Opelousas. She attended the former Holy Ghost Catholic School until tenth grade. Eva graduated from the former J.S. Clark High School in 1965. Eva moved to Galveston, TX where she lived over 35 years. She attended the University of Houston in Sugarland, TX and received an Associate of Arts Degree in Library Science. Eva was employed by the University of Texas Medical Branch as a Medical Transcriber at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, TX. She retired and moved back to Opelousas in 2001. Eva was very sweet and caring person. She loved meeting people and making new friends. If she spoke to you and you spoke back, she would engage you in a long conversation. Eva was soft-spoken with an infectious laugh. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Eva is survived by one brother, Ivory Roberts (Elrose) of Walnut, CA; one nephew, Alvin Williams (Angela) of South Carolina; two nieces, Precious Janice (Korey) of Houston, TX and Tina Janice of Bryan, TX; eleven great nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins and friends. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Irene White and Octavio Janice; one brother, Alvin Janice; nine uncles and four aunts. A quiet will be held at 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
