Mr. James Johnson

James “Jimbo” Johnson, 70 years of age, transitioned from this earth on Sunday, January 23, 2022 peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was baptized at an early age at St. James Baptist Church and a high school graduate of Opelousas High class of 1970 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was funny, nosey, loving, stubborn, he had no filter and took pride in his family. He loved to spend time with family and friends and was always the life of the party. He loved to fish and took pride in his yard. James “Jimbo” Johnson is survived by his wife of 49 years Gloria Anderson Johnson; four daughters, Pamela Payne(Paul) of Opelousas, LA; Patricia Johnson-Sims(Eric, Sr.) of Lancaster, TX., Clementine Randell(Thomas, Jr.) of Opelousas, LA., Jessica Bernard(Sidney, Sr.) of Glenn Heights, TX.; eight grandchildren, Eric Sims, Jr., Derrick Sims, Brandon Sims, Nyla Randell, Conner Payne, Thomas Randell III, Eryn Paisley Sims and Sidney Bernard, Jr. and one great-grandchild Aryiah Sims. Sisters include Bettye Strother (Edward) of Fort Myers, FL, Jeanette Pitts of Roswell, GA, Alice Thomas of Opelousas, LA and Rose Johnson Vereen (Jasper) of Miami, FL. A brother-in-law who was like a brother Charles Anderson and close friend Wilbert “Jap” Simmons. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to Hope Healthcare and Hospice especially Nicole Deaville who made the changes in our life a little easier. He was proceeded in death by his parents Johnny “Bud” Johnson, Sr. and Audria Fontenot Johnson, a sister Bertice Johnson, a brother Johnny Johnson, Jr. a brother-in-law Peter Thomas and best friend Jules “Dooney” Henry, Sr. The family will honor “Jimbo” from 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home for a Memorial Service. There will not be a viewing. Mask or face covering must be worn at the funeral home. Due to COVID, the family pray that everyone makes it safely after the memorial service.
