Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ for Mr. Joseph “Joco” Richard, 66, who entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Ochsner Lafayette General Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Park. Bishop Alton Gatlin will officiate the Celebration of Life. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his legacy, his children Desiree Richard and Jodi Richard both of Lafayette, Tonya Shelvin (Ronald) of Opelousas, LA, Gordon Major (Koleen) of Lafayette, LA, Deantrae Armstead also of Lafayette, his sweetheart, love of his life and mother of his children Luranie Richard; brothers, Williams Richard, Jonah Richard, Fannel Rubin, Jr. and Anthony Rubin; sisters, Patricia Davis and Treles Hubbard, (6) grandchildren, Gordon Major, Jr., Da’Kyrie Richard, Harlem Major, Reagan Jay Richard, Serge Major and Devonta Major and a host of other relatives, loved ones and special friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Fannel Rubin, Sr. and Leona Mary Richard, his grandmother, Eva “Nanny” Jackson Richard, brother, John Rubin; sisters, Jeanelle Rubin-Bellard, Jeanette Richard, Beverly Rubin, Mary Rose Rubin and Paula Rubin and a niece, Nia Jana Richard. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 7:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ, 1127 North Market Street, Opelousas, LA 70570.
