Mr. Joseph Gerald Taylor “JJ” Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA, for Mr. Joseph Gerald Taylor, 63, who entered eternal rest, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his residence in Sunset, LA. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery. Joseph Gerald Taylor ( JJ ) was born April 22, 1956 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Edward and Hilda Taylor in Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Sunset Elementary School and Sunset High School. Gerald "JJ"Taylor worked for Petroleum Helicopters in Lafayette, LA. driving trucks for 6 years. During that time, he met Ella M. Francis, they married and through this union were six children. In 1989, he began truck driving school, and they moved to Houston, Texas. Gerald later worked as a security guard and construction worker before moving back to Sunset, Louisiana in 1993. Years later, Gerald met Mary Catherine Boloney. Gerald loved his children dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to barbeque, watch football and basketball games, playing pool, fishing, gardening, giving encouraging words, and always willing to help. He will truly be missed. Gerald "JJ" Taylor is survived by his six children: Amanda M. Francis (Willie), Joseph Gerald Francis (Yolanda), Crystal Michelle Francis Taylor (Fiance' Trey), Jason Taylor (Ashley),Abbie Lynn Taylor, and Joshua Keith Taylor; 24 grandchildren, 6 great grand children; 6 siblings: Mary Leana Taylor, Edward Taylor (Wilda), Helen Marie Chevis, Donald Taylor (Rita), Linda Sessum (Johnny), Carroll Taylor (Fran); Mary Catherine Baloney , and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Gerald "JJ" Taylor was preceded in death by his father & mother, Edward & Hilda Taylor; brother, Phillip Taylor; sisters, Norma Joubert and Gladie Roy; nephew, Gregory Joubert, Patrick Henry Roy and a niece, Babara Raglin. Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home.
