Mrs. Lucille Jordan Joseph
September 26, 1926 - November 17, 2020
Lucille Jordan Joseph, was born on September 26, 1926 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Leo and Eva Jordan. Lucille was the eldest child, often serving as the helper to her mother and father with some of her siblings. Her parents modeled and expected that she follow The Ten Commandments, as well as, walk and serve God by displaying a big heart of LOVE for ALL and a tongue of kind words to ALL. Raised in a devout Catholic home, she attended Catholic School and mass every Sunday. She was baptized Catholic at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, La., and continued to practice her religious belief under the guidance of her devoted parents; thus, establishing her Catholic Christian journey and relationship with God. As her history goes, sometime in the early 1940s, Lucille met George Joseph Sr., a distinguish young man from a small section of Opelousas called Bellevue. They courted and married in August of 1942. From their matrimonial union, they were blessed with the birth of twelve children; but, lost two babies shortly after birth. Lucille and George raised their children to believe and practice Catholicism; thereby, attending Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, Louisiana, every Sunday. In later years, Lucille joined Christ the King Catholic Church in Bellevue, La., and remained a devoted parishioner and Knights of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxillary Court 114 for over fifty years to her last day of life. From her Catholic instruction, she accepted to put God and family at the center of her core being always displaying unconditional love within her home and providing all that visited her warm and motherly love. For over 90 years, Lucille devoted her life to being a model of a “Virtuous Woman.” She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, and a devout rosary praying faithful woman of God. Her character earned her the name of “Mom” known and called by all whose lives she touched. The greatest joys for Lucille were centered around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. All of them were the sunshine in her eyes, twinkle in her smile, pride in her voice and beats in her heart. She always made sure that her family enjoyed the best creole meals and never showed an ounce of tiredness even in her later years. She loved cooking and she loved the holidays with lots of family and friends around. Lucille not only dedicated her life to her family, but she also devoted her time to serve others. If anyone needed prayer, food, care, or conversation, it was Lucille on duty to support. She was a Christian woman of virtue, peace, understanding, and love for all mankind. In her spare time, Lucille not only enjoyed family gatherings; she also enjoyed traveling and going to the casino. Casino outings were her favorite; often spending hours pressing her finger on the button fully engaged with the expectation of winning. After 94 years of giving all of herself to her family, Mrs. Lucille Jordan Joseph, took her final breathe of life at her home in Bellevue, Louisiana, on November 16, 2020.
