She entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Opelousas General Hospital. She was employed by St. Landry Parish School Board and worked at Prairie Laurent and Katherine Drexel Elementary School as a lunchroom technician for several years. She married Antoine Emile Lemelle on November 18, 1961. She leaves to cherish her memories her two sons, James Auzenne (Glenda) and John Lemelle (Cynthia); a daughter, Carla Donato (Jerome) all of Opelousas, LA; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers-in-law, Jude “Bunny” Lastrapes of Prairie Laurent, LA and Felix Lemelle of Beaumont, TX; a sister-in-law, Florence Auguillard of Leonville, LA; two Godchildren, Tanya Griffin and Dwane Chavis. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a special friend, Catherine “Zee” Fournier of Opelousas, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Emile Lemelle; her parents, Aramise and Carrie Auzenne; three sisters, Ruby Auzenne Chavis, Emily Ruth Auzenne and Velma Helen Lastrapes; mother-in-law and father-in-law; five brothers-in-law, Adolph Auzenne, Norman Chavis, John, Herman and Joachim Lemelle; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Chargois and Mable Medina and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
