Ms. Patrice Marie Hertzock

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 2125 South Union Street, Opelousas at 11:00 A.M. for Patrice M. Hertzock, 51, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette surrounded by loved ones. Interment will be resolved at Bellevue Memorial Park, 4833 Highway 182. Rev. Msgr. Keith Joseph DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Patrice Marie Hertzock was born on March 29th, 1968 in Opelousas, La, to Patricia T. Hertzock and the late Alvarez J. Hertzock Sr. Patrice was dedicated to children. She devoted much of her time, resources, and loving spirit towards all children especially those at risk. During her professional career, she received many awards for her work as an Extension Agent for the 4-H Cooperative Extension Program for Prairie View A&M University in San Antonio, Tx. Patrice received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences in 1991 from Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. She then went on to achieve her Masters of Education with a major in Reading Education from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Tx. Shortly after receiving her masters, she pledged in a grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in San Antonio, Tx. Patrice was a devout Catholic who dedicated much of her time to her faith. She loved entertaining family and friends at the beautiful home she shared with her former husband in San Antonio, Tx. She also enjoyed yearly visits from family and friends, mostly during the summer months, especially around the 4th of July. She loved to cook and bake her favorite Creole dishes. Some of her favorites were crawfish etouffee, smothered pork chops, and she made a mean dutch apple pie! Patrice had an odd sense of humor that made her the life of the party with an infectious laugh that spread throughout any room. Her dream job was to become an actress. She often entertained family and friends with impromptu performances of her many characters. She also dabbled in modeling while attending college and did shows with several modeling agencies. She will always be remembered as a fun loving daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, niece, friend, and coworker, with a big heart and an unforgettable smile. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvarez Hertzock Sr., maternal grandparents Nathan and Lucretia Thompson, paternal grandparents Alphonse and Carrie Etta Conrad Hertzock. Patrice is survived by her loving mother Patricia T. Hertzock, four siblings, Alvarez Hertzock, II (Carol)-Baton Rouge, La., Darla Hertzock Montgomery (Alex)-Lafayette, La., Lucretia M. Hertzock-Opelousas, La., Conrad Hertzock (Lucretia)-Opelousas, La., one aunt, Barbara Jones- New Orleans, La., one great aunt, Elise Durousseau- Opelousas, La., former husband Walter Barnes- San Antonio, TX., a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and one great nephew. The family request visiting hours be observed on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at Williams Funeral Home, 817 E. South Street, and continuing from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
