Mrs. Rita Fontenot Singleton Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA, for Mrs. Rita Fontenot Singleton, 97, who entered eternal rest, Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Landry Extended Care in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Singleton is survived by two daughters, Elnora Singleton Woods and Alzena Singleton Joseph both of Opelousas, LA; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, twenty-five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her husband, Easton Singleton; a son, Joseph Lee Singleton; two sons-in-law, Eugene Woods, Sr. and Paul Wilbert Joseph; parents, Charlie Fontenot, Sr. & Zeta Eaglin Fontenot; four sisters, Lugenia, Julia, Lucy and Sophia; five brothers, Charles “Fred”, Frank, George, Joseph Marshall and Lee; a great granddaughter, Little Elnora Woods and a great-great grandson, Nathaniel Guillory. Visiting hours will be observed from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home.
