Mr. Thomas Ray Lavine On July 26, 1957 Thomas Lavine entered the world as the seventh child of Paul Lavine and Antee Young Lavine. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and began his Christian service at Emma Zion Baptist Church at a young age, using his gift for music to rejoice in the Lord. For many years to come, he would offer his talents in celebration and honor to God, helping many along the way. Thomas Lavine was a warrior for Christ and prided himself on fearlessly speaking the word of God to any and all who would hear. Thomas never met a stranger that he wouldn't offer his hand of service to or a word of prayer for. Thomas had a ready heart and willing mind to defend all those he felt needed a champion. Thomas Lavine was also the life of the party. Quick with a joke or funny story, Thomas loved bringing smiles and laughs to all around him. Thomas would offer light and love to all who needed it, but had a special place for those in need of a second chance. Thomas Lavine - "Paul and Antee's Favorite Boy", proud Lavine, loving father, and devoted Papi to his grandchildren - would beam with pride at the mention of his children and grandchildren. He excitedly encouraged his family to pursue their dreams and inspired them to reach beyond limitations and allow their gifts to shine through. Thomas Lavine was a hard worker and dedicated many years of service as a skilled technician with Brown and Root Industrial Service and Exxon Refinery along with being an Electrician. In his later years, Thomas became a self-taught computer builder and offered a hand to assist those in need of help with computer repair and literacy. Thomas was a helper, by nature, and from the homeless to the wealthy, he extended his hand in fellowship without prejudice. He was received by God's loving embrace on December 5th, 2022. Thomas Lavine was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lavine Sr and Antee Young Lavine. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Theresa Lavine, his brother Paul Lavine Jr, his sisters, Bonnie Hanchett and family, Janie Savoy and family, Betty Wyble and family, and Martha Guillory and family; his son, Quayland Lavine, his daughter, Tenise Lavine, and goddaughter Dara Balogun, grandsons: Damian, Mykel, Isaiah and Terian Thomas and granddaughters: Shayland, Quaniya, Ashana and Evellyn. His memory lives on in the hearts and minds of a multitude of friends, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ in Opelousas, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
