Ms. Albertha Young LaChapelle Albertha Young LaChapelle was born on September 6, 1960 to the union of Paul Young, Sr. and Lucille Rubin Young in Lafayette, LA. Bert as most knew her as, was raised in Prairie Rhonde, LA and resided in Frilot Cove, LA. God called her home on Sunday, February 23, 2025 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and loved ones at Opelousas General Health System. Bert lived a life of love and was devoted to her family. She was cherished by many and will truly be missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mallet, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM at the church. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 AM. After the Rosary there will be reflections and tributes until time of services. The Father Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass of Chrisitan burial. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, John Eddie LaChapelle (Brittany) of Frilot Cove, LA; three daughters, Jamie Mckay (Eric) of Moss Bluff, LA, Johnice Ceasar (Bryan) of Opelousas, LA and April Hunter (Kendrick) of Opelousas, LA; one son-in-law, Christopher Richard of Opelousas, LA; the fathers of her children, John Ricky Ceazer of Lake Charles, LA and Faron LaChapelle of Frilot Cove, LA; one brother, Richard Young, Sr. (Gertrude) of Lawtell, LA; two sisters, Lucinda Sonnier of Opelousas, LA and Catherine Young of Lawtell, LA; two sisters-in-law, Gayle Young of Lake Charles, LA and Janice Hicks of Frilot Cove, LA; two special Godchildren, Shaun Young and Lucinda “Tee” Sonnier; seventeen grandchildren, Jarlen, Chrislyn, Rileigh and Haven Richard, Justin and Jaylon Leday, Raegan and Landon Myers, Brenden Lachapelle, Meddrick Jr., Mariah and Mason Pickens, London, John Jr., Mia, Julian and Noah Lachapelle; two great grandchildren, Raylon Pickney and Brooklyn Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bert will be joined in heaven by her beloved daughter, Jeri Ceasar Richard (baby girl); one grandson, Jerimiah Kendall LaChapelle; a stillborn (Johnice twin); parents, Paul Young, Sr. and Lucille Rubin Young; five brothers, Paul Young, Jr., Rodney Young, Sr., Charles Young, Jasper Young and Raphael Young; two sisters, Bernice Pea and Thelma Young Jones; two brothers-in-law, Rogers Sonnier and Lucius Jones, Sr.; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Young, Alonda Gobert and Anna Bell Young; three special nephews, Michael Young, Paul Young, III and Dillan Young.
