Mr. Christopher Paul Vallan

In Loving Memory of Christopher Paul “Val” Vallan Christopher Paul “Val” Vallan, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 52 on May 23, 2023. His departure has left an enduring void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born on August 23, 1970, Chris lived a life filled with compassion and joy. Chris’ story began in Lawtell, Louisiana. As a son, he brought joy and pride to his parents, Gertrude Davis Vallan and B. Paul Vallan, who nurtured his character with love and values. From an early age, Chris displayed a deep interest in various hobbies, such as participating in the band and playing baseball which carried over to his time at Lawtell High School, where he graduated from in 1988. As a young adult, Chris attended the Marion Military Institute and was accepted as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he received various decorations, such as the sharpshooter qualification badge, and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Beyond his military service, he possessed a wonderful ability to connect with others, forging lifelong friendships and relationships throughout his journey. Whether it was sharing jokes, serving as a caregiver to his mom and brother, enjoying cooking for his friends, or spending time laughing with loved ones, Chris’ genuine kindness touched the lives of those around him. He was a steady presence to those around him during both joyful and challenging times. Chris had a lifelong passion for learning and obtained an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Management from Louisiana State University Eunice in 2006. In addition, he earned several certifications in Nondestructive Testing Methods from the Opelousas Academy of Nondestructive Testing. He had a love for dogs, sports, and especially enjoyed boxing. He also shared his love of sports with the local youth by volunteering his time to coach. Although Chris was a private person, he had a joyous, open-hearted, and caring spirit. As we mourn the loss of Chris, we also celebrate the wonderful person he was. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and his memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched. May we find solace in the shared memories and the laughter we experienced alongside him. Chris had a deep connection with his father Paul, who left the earthly world in 1985. Their father and son bond has transcended this physical life, as he has reunited with his father in heaven. He is survived by his loving family, his mother Gertrude Davis Vallan, his brothers Patrick O’Neal Vallan and Michael James Vallan, his sister Ashley Ann Sadie Vallan, and our extended family Freddie and Francesca Lee and their two children Fahilry and Favah. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of dear family and friends, a list too long to name here. Please know that whether you are family or you met Chris during his time at Lawtell Elementary, Lawtell High, through the Military, or running around Lawtell, Opelousas, Ville Plate or other areas, it is our hope that while his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will forever endure in the cherished memories we hold close. Honoring Chris’ wishes, a small informal service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana, where close friends and the immediate family can gather to pay their respects and remember the life of Christopher Paul “Val” Vallan. For those who wish to send flowers, they can be delivered to the funeral home.
