Mrs. Darlene Zachary Macias

Darlene Zachary Macias OPELOUSAS- Darlene Zachary Macias was born on June 13, 1965 to the late Burnell Zachary and Fannie Smith Zachary. She worked in the nursing industry for the majority of her life. Darlene united into marriage to James (Jim) Macias in Houston, Texas. To this union, two lovely children were born, Tyler James Macias and Eric Nickolas Macias. Darlene was a devoted wife and mother, who was known and loved by all. In her spare time Darlene spent countless hours studying the holy bible and developing her relationship with the Lord. She was a dedicated Christian, who worshipped within her congregation. Darlene’s love for God was evident through her unwavering faith acceptance of the grace and mercy of God on her many acts of good deeds. Darlene was baptized on January 26, 1972 and she rededicated her life in 2011. She was a member of The Island of Hope Church of God in Christ in Houston, Texas. Darlene served as an active clerical administrator for the evangelism department. She was a faithful member and served diligently in whatever aspect needed. Darlene’s hobbies included reading her bible and other spiritual books/articles, listening to gospel music, helping the elderly, working in her congregation with Sunday school, and assisting within the ministry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. John Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. On September 9, 2016, Darlene departed this life for a greater place with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Darlene leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband James (Jim) Macias; children, Tyler and Eric Macias, Texas; mother, Fannie Smith Zachary, Opelousas, La.; one brother, Paul (Tanya) Zachary, Opelousas, La; five sisters, Linda Nelson, Lafayette, La.; Sharon Zachary, Jennie Zachary and JoAnn Zachary, Opelousas, La; and Dianna Zachary (Andrew Williams), Baton Rouge, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends, and family/sisters in Christ. She will be sadly missed by all. Special thanks to Darlene’s sisters in Christ who diligently cared for her with no regrets; Ms. M. Belfrey, Ms. V. Reese, and Ms. B. Chavis. Darlene is preceded in death by her father, Burnell Zachary; brother, Lionell Zachary; grandparents, Nolan Smith Sr. and Genieve Smith, Clayuse Levier and Leola Levier; host of uncles, aunts, cousins.
