David Ray Chatman, Sr., 61, was born on May 1, 1959 in Lafayette, Louisiana to James B. “Fi'go” Chatman, Sr. and the late Emily Rose “Bootsie” Roberts. He departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Ochsner University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette, LA. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Serenity Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. He leaves to cherish his memories, his father James B. “Fi'go” Chatman, Sr. of Opelousas, LA; life-long companion, Laura Tezeno of Lafayette, LA; two sons, David Ray “DJ” Chatman, Jr. (Ebony) of Opelousas, LA and David Ray “Trei” Chatman, III (Crystal) of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Desi Rae Chatman of Broussard, LA, Brig'Nette Tezeno (Jalner) and Lauren Tezeno (Gregory) of Lafayette, LA; four brothers, James B. “Fi'go” Chatman, Jr. (Charlene Chatman)/(Debbie) of Lebeau, LA, Arthur J. Chatman of London, England; Benjamin C. Chatman (Carol) of Opelousas, LA and Bradley W. Chatman, Sr. (Theresa) of Fredericksburg, VA; three sisters, Deanna M. Chatman of Opelousas, LA, Jo-lynn M. Prudhomme (Joseph) of Plaisance, LA and Angela L. Randell of Opelousas, LA;three step-brothers, Percy Chatman, David Charles Sr., and James Handy all of Opelousas, LA; a step-sister, Janice Handy of Opelousas, LA; four Godchildren, Napoleon Prudhomme, Fekisha Matthews John Thibodeaux Jr. and Peaches Chatman; fourteen grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Rose “Bootsie” Chatman; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Irene Thomas Roberts; paternal grandparents, Arthur Chatman and Mary Jane Miller; twin siblings, August and September Chatman; a brother-in-law, Raynell Randell and two step- brothers, Terry and Michael Chatman.
