A Celebration of Life honoring Mrs. Florence Theresa Auzenne Bouyer, 96, will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. Mrs. Bouyer entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Opelousas General Hospital. Family and Friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. The funeral mass will follow at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 1:30 PM. Mrs. Bouyer will then be laid to rest at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, Louisiana. Father Justin Arockiasamy, SVD will officiate the celebration. Florence, better known by family and friends as “Deuce”, was born on September 6,1929 in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was the third of six children born to Joseph Monie Auzenne and Alice Rose Auzenne of Frilot Cove, Louisiana. Florence received her early educational training at Andrepont Elementary School in Frilot Cove, Louisiana and her high school education at Holy Ghost Catholic School in Opelousas, Louisiana, graduating in 1947. She went on to graduate from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed by St. Landry Parish School Board as an elementary school teacher for 31 years touching the lives of countless children. She began her teaching career at North Elementary School and later moved to Grolee Elementary School where she taught until her retirement in 1987. Florence married Lee Merrill Bouyer on January 31, 1959, and from that union of 41 years, came five children. Florence touched the lives of many people. Over the years, she cared for many family members and was always willing to extend a helping hand to others. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially during the holidays, and was always happy to see her grandchildren. Gardening was her passion. On any given day, you could find her working in her flower beds as it brought her joy to keep her yard beautiful. We will miss her dearly. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory one brother Alton Charles Auzenne and one sister-in-law Sylvia Perrodin Auzenne both of Duarte, California, one son Frank Joseph Bouyer (Kimberly) of Brentwood, Tennessee, four daughters Lolita Maria Bouyer Harrel (Willie) of Conyers, Georgia, Monique Rose Bouyer Mosley (Terrence) of Jackson, Mississippi, Michelle Antoinette Bouyer Hampton (Lee, Jr.) of Bellaire, Texas, Melanie Ann Bouyer of Opelousas, Louisiana, one chosen daughter Pamalor Lyn Joseph of Lafayette, Louisiana, one godson Duane Jacques Auzenne (Margie) of Houma, Louisiana, one special nephew Edmond Joseph Auzenne of Houston, Texas, seven grandchildren Willie Kendall Harrel of Arlington, Texas, Lee Autry Hampton, III of Los Angeles, California, Merril Anthony Bouyer of Waco, Texas, Leah Antoinette Hampton of Washington, DC, Lethan Andrew Hampton of Bellaire, Texas, Stephen Michael Bouyer of Brentwood, Tennessee, William Bouyer Mosley of Jackson, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Merrill Bouyer of Opelousas, Louisiana, her parents Joseph Monie Auzenne and Alice Rose Auzenne of Frilot Cove, Louisiana, two brothers Joseph Dorsey Auzenne of Frilot Cove, Louisiana and Felix Austin Auzenne of Duarte, California, two sisters Irmine Marie Auzenne of Opelousas, Louisiana and Angelena Rose Auzenne Ross of Davenport, Iowa, father-in-law Frank Joseph Bouyer, mother-in-law Elmae Pitre Bouyer, two brothers-in-law Warren Jacques Auzenne and Donald Clayton Bouyer, Sr. all of Opelousas, Louisiana, one sister-in-law Frankie Bouyer Patterson and husband Willis Charles Patterson of Ann Arbor, Michigan, four nephews Dana Charles Auzenne of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Curt Andrew Auzenne of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Donald Clayton Bouyer, Jr. of Opelousas, Louisiana and Matthew Felix Auzenne of Frilot Cove, Louisiana, and one godson Kyle Wade Gauthier of Opelousas, Louisiana. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Opelousas General Hospital for their care of our mother as well as Mrs. Liler Florence with Holy Ghost Catholic Church Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion. We offer special recognition to nearby friends and relatives who have blessed our family with their kindness over the years, the Auzenne, Bouyer and Patterson Families as well as the Frank, Hampton and Manuel Families. We would also like to thank our sister, Melanie Ann Bouyer, for being the primary caregiver of our mother and providing exceptional love, care and support for all these years.
