Mr. Gerald Wayne Thomas OPELOUSAS- Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Gerald Wayne Thomas, 58, a longtime resident of Opelousas and who was currently residing in Houston, Texas for the past five years, entered eternal rest, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Willie Maynard, Jr. will officiate the services. Those who will forever hold close to their hearts with fond memories are: his loving sister, Darlyn L. Cormier (Sonny) of Opelousas, LA; his niece, Keisha D. Thomas of Baton Rouge, LA; a loving companion and best friend, Brenda “Kim” Able of Houston, TX; three aunts, Bertha Mae B. Joubert of Opelousas, LA; Ruby B. Turner of New Orleans, LA; Yola B. Barnes (James) of Houston, TX; his cousins whom he loved and cherished dearly as his brothers and sisters are: Kenneth Albert (Debra) of Port Arthur, TX, Roland Gordon (Doleatha) of Lancaster, SC, Antonio Joubert of Dallas, TX, Abigail James (Aaron) of Ruston, LA, Marzetta LeBlanc of Houston, TX, Lydia Wardell Lewis of St. Louis, MO, Willette Turner of Atlanta, GA, and Tahati Brown of Houston, TX; and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends are left to share the fond memories of our beloved. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Thomas and Lou Hester Brown Stewart; stepfather, Levi Stewart; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Lucy Lofton Brown; paternal grandparents, Sostand and Mary Thomas; three aunts, Willie B. Albert, Della Gordon and Mable Ramos; five uncles, Thomas Brown, Jr., Lindsey Albert, Perkins Joubert, Wilbert Turner and Joseph Ramos; three cousins that were like his brothers; Sherwood Devillier, Alfred Fountain, Jr., and Leonard Thomas. Also cousins he loved dearly, Vanessa Gordon and Dana Renee Gordon Leday, and his godmother, Betty Jean Marshall. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas, Louisiana.
