Mr. Henry James Durio

Mr. Henry James Durio Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA, honoring the life of Mr. Henry James Durio, 64, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at his residence. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery in Port Barre, LA. Rev. Kyle Sylvester will officiate the services. Henry Durio was a dedicated custodian at Port Barre Elementary School in St. Landry Parish, where he was known not only for his strong work ethic but for the warmth and joy, he brought to those around him. His unforgettable smile had a way of brightening even the simplest of days, leaving a lasting impression on students, staff, and everyone he encountered. Beyond his work, Henry was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether assisting family or friends with odd jobs, he gave his time generously and without hesitation. As the youngest of his siblings, he carried a spirit of kindness and humility that endeared him to all who knew him. A beloved figure throughout the Port Barre community, Henry will be remembered most for his boundless love and devotion to his children, grandchildren, and family. His presence was a gift, and his legacy of compassion and generosity will live on in the hearts of many. Mr. Durio is survived by two sons, Derrick Harris (Alisha) of Kenner, LA and Henry Robertson (Aureil) of Boutte, LA; eleven grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Durio of Port Barre, LA; seven sisters, Perline Pierre (Harry) of St. Rose, LA, Letha Smith, Mildred Durio and Beverly Pickens of Opelousas, LA, Delores Zachary of Dallas, TX, Annie Mae Holmes and Fannie Holmes (Clifton) of LaPlace, LA; one uncle, Medrick Mallet of Waxia, LA; one sister-in-law, Anna Rose Durio of Lafayette, LA; a special niece, Rose Durio of Opelousas, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Durio was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Durio, Sr. and Irene Mallet Durio; a daughter, Markeitha Michelle Robertson; two sisters, Joann Durio and Shirlene Durio Pope; three brothers, Leroy Durio, Sr., Joseph Durio, Jr. and Alvin Durio.
