Mr. Herman Offord Jr.

Mr. Herman Offord Brother Herman Offord Jr. was born March 22, 1942, to the union of the late Herman Offord Sr. and Beatrice Montgomery Offord. Herman, Jr., affectionately known as Jr. to his siblings and Super Chicken to his many friends. He was baptized at an early age, by the late Rev. Wilkin Jones Sr. of Emma Zion Baptist Church. Herman Jr. went on to complete his high school education and become an OTR Trucker from age 18 years old until his health issues forced him to retire. Herman Jr. was joined in marriage to the late Robena Offord. To this union, one child was adopted. He later met and married the late Mary Lou Pickney Offord and to this union, two children were born. Brother Offord later became a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church. There he worshiped until his health no longer allowed him to do so, under leadership of Reverend J. R. Offord. On January 23, 2023, Herman Offord Jr. was granted eternal life with his heavenly father. Herman Jr. departed this earthly life at 6:45 AM. He was preceded in death by his wives, Robena Offord and Mary Lou Pickney Offord; his father, Herman “Happy” Offord, Sr.; his mother, Beatrice “Bea” Montgomery Offord; four brothers, Bobby, Gregory, Larry, and Raymond Offord; three sisters, Stephanie Offord, Gwendolyn Offord Davis, and Lillian Offord Moten. Herman, Jr. leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: two sons, Frederick Wilson (Shonna) of Opelousas, LA and Kahari Offord (Shaunesia) of Lake Charles, LA; two daughters, Thelma Noel and Victoria Offord of Opelousas, LA; two brothers, Freddie Offord of Washington, LA and Rev. Johnny Offord of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Bonnie Offord Armstrong of Houston, TX, Pearlie Johnson and Maxie Sam (Felton Sr.) both of Opelousas, LA; one Godchild, Stephanie Kerry (Herman) of Opelousas, LA; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a special care taker, Margretta Eaglin; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at True Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Plaisance, LA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Rev. Johnny R. Offord will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
