In Loving Memory of Jennifer Marie (Lane) Williams It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer Marie (Lane) Williams, who departed this life on January 16, 2025, at the age of 57. Jennifer was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and a cherished friend to many. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Born on July 1,1967 in Opelousas, Louisiana, Jennifer grew up with a deep sense of community and a passion for learning. She attended public elementary school and graduated from Opelousas Catholic High School in 1985. Jennifer attended the University of Louisiana Lafayette and graduated in 1989 with a degree in Mass Communication. While attending ULL, Jennifer pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and formed lifelong friendships. In early career, Jennifer worked as a disc jockey at KJCB AM 770 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She worked the “Quiet Storm” and went by the DJ name of “Jennifer Love.” Jennifer followed her older sister to Baltimore, Maryland and embarked on a remarkable career as a Sales Professional. She was employed by The Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington, DC, where she was frequently recognized as one of the top salespersons. Her work was respected for its excellence, integrity, and compassion. Jennifer's greatest joy was her only son, David Williams. She loved to share his television and movie work with her family and friends. Jennifer was a proud member of the Upsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated in Baltimore County, MD. She was an active member of St. Bernadine Catholic Church where she participated in the adult bible study and feeding the homeless. After her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2017, Jennifer became active with Susan G. Komen. She participated in fundraisers for a cure and became deeply involved with legislative advocacy. Jennifer also took time to help and counsel other women through the breast cancer treatment process. Jennifer's legacy is one of love, dedication, and resilience. She touched countless lives with her kind heart and generous spirit. In addition to her only son David, Jennifer leaves to cherish her memories four siblings, Pamela (Ron) Scott of Houston, TX, Wanda Gatling, John Gatling and Alice Marie Lane of Philadelphia, PA, eight Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Aaron Lane and Waver Ann Gatling, her grandmother, Mary Mitchell, one sister and one niece.
