Mr. Jonathan Kurt Batiste

With gratitude for a life that touched so many, we celebrate the life of Jonathan Kurt Batiste, a beloved father, life partner, son, brother, veteran, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him. Born on October 27, 1968, to Lawrence Batiste Sr. and Elma Sam Batiste, Jonathan was raised in Lawtell, Louisiana, where he developed a deep appreciation for faith, family, and the values of country living. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, Jonathan dedicated nearly fifteen years to serving his community as a Group Home Administrator and business owner. During that time, he was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, continuing his commitment to serving others both professionally and within his community. Jonathan found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved fishing, gardening, spending time outdoors, and sharing meaningful conversations with family and friends. He appreciated the comfort of traditional home-cooked meals just as much as a memorable fine dining experience, believing some of life's best moments were shared around the table. Music was a constant companion throughout his life. Whether listening to Prince, Bob Marley, or playing with drums, music brought him peace and reflected the rhythm of his spirit. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and a heart that genuinely cared for others. Family and friends will always laugh when they think about Jonathan's many projects. He was never afraid to start something new, even if finishing it wasn't always part of the plan. Somehow, those unfinished projects became part of his story; small reminders of his curiosity, optimism, and determination. It was simply one of the many things that made him, Jonathan. Above all, Jonathan was a man of God whose faith remained an anchor throughout his life. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the love he shared, and the memories that will continue to be cherished by those who knew him. Jonathan's memory will forever be cherished by his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, laughter, and love. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lawrence Batiste Sr. and Elma Sam Batiste; his brothers, Joseph "Chubby" Anderson and Harry Guillory; his sister, Louanna Charles; and his beloved niece, Jalayah Kibodeaux. Though our hearts grieve his absence, we find comfort in knowing that his life continues through the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love that remains in the hearts of all who knew him. A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Jonathan Kurt Batiste will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, Louisiana. Mr. Batiste entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his residence. Family and Friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Mr. Batiste will then be laid to rest in Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell, Louisiana. Pastor Craig Gailes will officiate at the services. “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25: 23
