Mr. Joseph Ervin Shilo Mr. Joseph Ervin Shilo, at the remarkable age of 95, departed this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by the quiet comfort of his home in Opelousas, Louisiana. Visitation will be held in his honor, from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church, 529 Augustus Street, in Opelousas, LA 70570. Immediately following the visitation, funeral services celebrating his long and meaningful journey will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. He will be laid to rest in Bellevue Memorial Park, Opelousas, LA, carried forward with love, remembrance and the quiet grace of a life well lived. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ronald Freeman, Sr., with Pastor Kirk Gradnigo delivering the eulogy. Mr. Shilo is survived by his devoted family, three sons, Bobby Shilo of Houston, TX, Ricky Shilo (Roxanne) of Chesapeake, VA and Terrell Shilo of Opelousas, LA; four daughters, Melanie Prince (Adam) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Charlotte Goudeau (Parmer) of Maringouin, LA, Jennifer Shilo (Jimmy) of Summerville, SC and Jacqueline Shilo-Gradnigo (Kirk) of Opelousas, LA; who will forever cherish the wisdom and warmth he shared with his family throughout his years. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Tai, Tenaya, D’Var, E’Von, Tony, Jr., Turi, ShaeRa’ja, Jabin, Yakira, Kevin, Ricky, Jr., Kai Lillian, Aja, Ariel, Kenya, Terrell, Jr., Tierra, Tyrrell, Mason, Ava, Richarter Damon, Kyna, Kaoka, Shun, Tatiana and Hazellyn, loved as a granddaughter in every way that matters; fifty great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Lillie Ann Shilo; parents, Theodore “Charley” Shilo and Eva Thomas; a daughter, Joann Jackson; a grandson, Joshua Andrew Lavergne; three great-great grandchildren and siblings, whose memory he carried tenderly until his final day.
