Mrs. Lelia Mae Hardy

Mrs. Lelia Mae Cassimere Hardy Lelia C. Hardy, age 74, a lifelong resident of Plaisance, LA transitioned into the loving arms of JESUS on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, at her residence, surrounded in the presence of GOD and by her loved ones. Born on December 8th, 1951, Lelia dedicated her life to the Lord, her family, and the students whom she taught throughout her 42 years employed in the Lafayette Parish School System. Lelia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She loved flowers, gardening, cooking, traveling, going to church, giving to others with a loving heart and most importantly she loved Jesus Christ. Lelia is survived by her wonderful and loving husband of 53 years, Felton Hardy. Her inspirational daughters and caregivers, Marcia and Tameka Hardy; three grandsons, Jari Henderson, John Veal and Roderick Johnson, Jr.; two sisters, Janis C. Alston and Gwendolyn C. Sam, one brother, Micheal J. Cassimere; one aunt, Bertresa Gardner; three sisters-in-law, Doris Williams, Marjorie Goodman and Mary Richard; one brother-in-law, Freddie Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lelia was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Ruby Jack Cassimere; her mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Nettie Mae Watkins Hardy; maternal grandparents, Leonce and Mable Pitre Jack; paternal grandparents, Moses and Lelia Cassimere; three brothers, Daniel Cassimere, Jr., Leon Cassimere, Sr. and Calvin Cassimere; two sisters-in-law; Maude Esther Warren and Mildred Hardy and one brother- in-law, Matthew Hardy. Family, friends and loved ones we ask that you come and celebrate the well lived life of Lelia on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Mohorn Missionary Baptist Church in the community of Plaisance, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM, prior to the service, which will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. The service will be officiated by Rev. Nicholas Thomas.
