Mrs. Mary Ann Carron

Mary Ann Carron was born on Friday, March 26, 1948, to Mines Anderson, Sr., and Eunice Guilbeaux Anderson in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was christened into the Catholic faith and remained an active, dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Church. Mary moved through the world with a grounding grace, a warm, steady personality. Her calm spirit wasn’t a lack of emotion, but a deep-seated patience – a choice to meet life’s moment with a gentle smile, an open heart, and the blessing of a home-cooked meal shared with those she loved. She was favored with talented DIY hands, able to repair things that often required expert knowledge. From auto to upholstery repair, she took time to learn “how-to” with success as a self-taught handiwoman. Mary Ann was also an accomplished florist and seamstress, creatively customizing floral arrangements and clothing for herself and others. From mending items to creating new pieces from patterns and decorative floral creations, her talents produced high-quality products made with a personal touch. Mary Ann graduated from J.S. Clark High School and began her employment career as a dedicated and valued member of the workforce in her community at The Guest Nursing Home. She later moved on to Walmart in Opelousas, where she served as a softline clothing manager. After more than thirty years of faithful and committed service, she retired to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family: one daughter, Cynthia Ann Melancon (Lionel), Opelousas, LA; three sons, Bruce Auguste (Visa/Vickie), Prairieville, LA, Chris Auguste (Delmar), Atlanta, GA, and Edward Auguste (Crystal), Houston, TX; one sister, Sandra Thompson (James), Opelousas, LA; one brother, Wilton Anderson, Sr. (Ruby Nell), Opelousas, LA; one aunt, Mary Alice Hall, Opelousas, LA; one sister-in-law, Brenda Anderson, Houston, TX; a brother-in-law, Jerry Allen, Opelousas, LA. She also leaves to cherish her memory nine grandchildren: Quincy Richard, Jr., Jemery Richard, Sr., Morgan Dominic, Nia Auguste, Norman Hebert, Raven Auguste, Taalib Auguste, Elijah Auguste, Edward Auguste, Jr.; two godchildren, JocLyne’ Anderson and Chantal Torrain; six great-grandchildren, a caring helpful companion, Roy Roberts, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, James Auguste, husband, Ernest Carron, one son, Jermaine Carron, one sister, Georgia Allen, five brothers: Horace, Oreal, Minus, Jr., Mervin, Ervin, and Clayton Anderson; three sisters- in-law, Gracie, Rose, and Judy Anderson, and one daughter-in-law, Patrice Auguste. Her legacy of faith, family, and service will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her strong will and kindness. The family kindly requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 P.M. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1:30 P.M., honoring the cherished memory of their loved one with grace and reverence. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park. Pastor, Rev. J. Aaron Melancon will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial.
