Mrs. Mary Ann L. Haynes

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 534 S Market St, Opelousas, LA for Mary Ann Lavergne Haynes, 75. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor, Rev. Junius Egby will officiate the Homegoing Celebration. Mary Ann L. Haynes was born on February 28, 1943, to the late Joseph and Mable Toussaint Lavergne in Opelousas, Louisiana. She quietly departed this life on Friday, August 24, 2018. She attended J.S. Clark High School and graduated with the class of 1961. She also attended several post-secondary schools after graduation, which included Commonwealth college of Sciences in Houston, Texas, which later afforded her a lifetime career as a Funeral Director/Mortician. Throughout her career, she also owned and operated several businesses (The Flower Shop and The Pit Stop). In addition to her many accomplishments, Mary Ann was a licensed florist. Her life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well. She was well known as one of the best dressers around town. She loved to travel and did so extensively, but most of all she cherished spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother, sister and friend. During her union to James F. Haynes, she bore one son, Jerel Flynn Haynes, whom she leaves to mourn. Also mourning her departure but cherishing her memories are: two brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Lavergne of Houston, TX and Patrick “Toga” Lavergne of Pineville, LA; four sisters, Stella Lavergne, Barbara L. Haynes, Annette Lavergne and Susan L. Cretchain all of Opelousas, LA; three grandchildren, Dustin Ballard, Kenya Haynes and Jaren Haynes; two great-grandchildren, Dustin Ballard, Jr. and Joseph Guillory, Jr.; one godson, Shawn Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mable Toussaint Lavergne; two brothers, Robert and Haynes “Butch” Lavergne; two sisters, Betty Jo Loeb and Dianne L. Celestine; and one nephew, Darrell “Candyman” Daniel. The family request visiting hours be observed on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 534 S Market St, Opelousas, LA.
