Natalie Ann Auzenne Gordon On the night of January 23, 2026, Almighty God saw fit to call one of His angels home at the blessed age of 82. The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are now past. The ever-patient, worn-out frame has found a sweet rest at last. Natalie Auzenne was born on June 9, 1943, to the late Octave and Octavia Auzenne in Opelousas, Louisiana. She graduated from J.S. Clark High School in 1960. Natalie furthered her education at Grambling State University, where she majored in Elementary Education. While at Grambling, she proudly pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. After graduating from college, she embarked on a lifelong passion for teaching, dedicating 33 years to educating and shaping young minds. She began her teaching career at Katharine Drexler Elementary School as a third-grade teacher and, following the school’s merger into Leonville Elementary School, continued teaching Kindergarten, where she became a beloved and lasting presence. She had a special way of commanding attention—and if needed, she had her trusty fly swatter to gently get students back on task, always with a touch of humor and authority. Natalie married her high school sweetheart, Aaron Andrew Gordon, on December 27, 1966. They were blessed with 59 loving years of marriage, built on faith, love, and devotion. From this union, they were blessed with one devoted son, Damian Gerard Gordon. Natalie was a member of the Inseparable Friends Benevolent Society Ladies Auxiliary and the Legion of Mary. Long before Facebook and social media, Natalie was the go-to source for news, gossip, and the latest happenings in the community. If you wanted to know something, you called Natalie—she always knew before it even appeared in the Daily World Newspaper or on KLFY TV 10 News. She enjoyed her favorite TV programs, particularly the soap operas—The Young & the Restless, The Bold & the Beautiful, and The Guiding Light. She recorded them every day so she could watch them when she returned home from work, never missing a moment of her beloved shows. Natalie also had a passion for gardening. She could often be seen working in her yard or flowerbeds, cutting, trimming, and weed-eating to keep her property beautifully maintained. Natalie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Aaron Gordon; her son, Damian Gerard Gordon (Dixie); her two grandchildren, Aiden Gordon and Leilani Gordon; two sisters, Margie Serie and Rosalie Meullion; two godchildren, Marcia Latigue and Travis Latigue; three sisters-in-law, Easter Auzenne, Barbara Auzenne, and Nettie Gordon; and two brothers-in-law, Terry Gordon and James Gordon, and a host of other relatives and special friends. Natalie was preceded in death by her infant son, Brian Damian Gordon; her parents, Octave and Octavia Auzenne; her father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Ruby Gordon; two brothers, Richard Manuel Auzenne and Norbert J. Auzenne; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Serie and James Meullion; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Gordon. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana, with Reverend Monsignor Keith Joseph DeRouen officiating. Visiting hours will be observed on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, prior to the service.
