NEVA JANE REED SMITH “NOVA” October 31, 1955 to June 25, 2010 Opelousas, Louisiana Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 2, 2010, at Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, in Opelousas, for Mrs. Neva Smith, 54, whose Book of Life on Earth closed, Friday, June 25, 2010, opening the beginning of a new chapter, Eternal Life. Mrs. Smith was a floral designer for 30 years. She was the owner of “Flowers By Nova” for 24 years, where she catered to the community with unique floral designs. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Rev. Johnny Offord will officiate at the services. Mourning her departure, yet cherishing her precious memories, is her loving husband, Rev. Willie L. Smith, Sr. of Opelousas, Louisiana. She is also survived by her children, two sons, Vernon Jones, Jr. (Denise) of Opelousas, Louisiana and Willie Smith, Jr. of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Kristi Smith (fiancé, Adam Malrey) of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Brittany Bellard, Brianna Minor, McKinnly Bellard-Jones, Cameron Jones, Madison Jones all of Opelousas, Louisiana and Tyler Malrey of Houston, Texas; six brothers, Ollie Reed, Jr. (Anna Wise) of Houston, Texas, Allen Reed (Gloria), Harry Reed (Jeanne), Larry Reed (Glenda), Michael Reed (JoAnn) and Kurt Young all of Opelousas, Louisiana; one sister, Caroline Arvie of Opelousas, Louisiana; father-in-law, Mr. Horace Smith, Sr. of Opelousas, Louisiana; five sisters-in-law, Lois Smith Ghant of Columbus, Georgia, Mary Helen Franklin (Alvin) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Myrtle Manuel, Joy Smith and Rachel Smith all of Opelousas, Louisiana; three brothers-in-law, Rev. Horace E. Smith (Margie) of Kingwood, Texas, Murry Smith and Horace Smith, Jr. both of Opelousas, Louisiana; one aunt, Mrs. Albertha Riley of Palto-Alto, California; five godchildren, Jacqulyn Reed, Kalin Manuel, Donna Babino all of Opelousas, Louisiana, TaKyra Ghant and Cole Ghant both of Columbus, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends, who will miss her deeply. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie & Anna Reed, Sr.; one sister, Lois Reed; one brother, Major Reed, her beloved mother-in-law, Mrs. Leola Theresa Smith and one brother-in-law, Robert Arvie. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 2, 2010, at Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, in Opelousas, Louisiana.
