Mr. Roosevelt “Hot Shot” “Bubba” Iford Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Barbreck, LA, for Mr. Roosevelt Iford, 86, who entered eternal rest, Monday, January 15, 2024 at Senior Village Nursing Home. He was a hardworking man and a devoted family man. Roosevelt was a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, great friend, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baking and cooking. Roosevelt was real outdoorsman who loved nature. He always had a cup of coffee and a hat on his head. He took pride in the collection. Roosevelt loved his family and friends with passion and made everyone in his presence feel like family. He was a longtime and faithful Deacon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Roosevelt is survived by his loving wife, Eva Colligan Iford; two daughters, Susan Iford and Lisa Iford (Dwight); grandchildren, Anya Iford Givs (Arsenio), Deric Landry (Jamie), Danielle Landry Steward (LaJairrus) and Amaya Iford; great grandchildren, Ayden Givs, Reece Stewart, Abigail Givs, Amelia Givs, Rowan Stewart, Carson Landry, Amauri Givs, Ryden Stewart and Addison Givs; one sister-in-law, Bertha Colligan; two brothers-in-law, Robert Colligan, Sr. and Joseph Colligan (Lorraine); nieces, Celestine, Allison, Debra, Sherry, Carolyn, Sheila, Sharon and Sonya; nephews, Robert, Baxter, Dean, Tyrone, Bruce, Kevin, Antonio, Clay, Carmicheal and Eric and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Louvenia Griffin Iford; four sisters, Claudette, Jeanette, Mildred and Charlotte Gibson (Joseph); nieces, Irene, Beverly and Sandra; nephews, Donald, Larry, Clarence and Hilton Clark, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Comilla Clark; three brothers-in-law, Louis Colligan (Mary), Albert Colligan and Elroy Colligan. He was a retired employee of the City of Opelousas, where he served as the Plant Operator in the sewer and water department for over 40 years. Roosevelt found joy in his career and dedicated himself to serving his community. Roosevelt found solace and strength in his faith and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. Where he worshipped, served as a Deacon, and a member of the male choir. In his free time, Roosevelt enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, ceramics, fishing and working on cars. These hobbies brought him immense happiness and allowed him to express his creativity and love for adventure. Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 AM to 12:15 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home.
