Mrs. Willie Lee Henry

On Sunday, February 1, 2026, Willie Lee Doucet Henry was escorted by the death angel to greet her heavenly father to enjoy that land where there is no pain and is filled with peace and serenity. She was born on December 3,1946 to Willie Mae Doomes in Palmetto, Louisiana. Willie Lee moved to Opelousas, attended J.S. Clark, and is a graduate of the Class of 1964. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Willie Lee became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a faithful and active member who served as a member of the Finance Committee, Sunday School, Choir, Usher Board, Vacation Bible School, and the Hospitality Committee. On July 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to the former Kenneth Henry. Willie was employed as a culinarian at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home and Park Vista Elementary. She leaves to cherish her life, one brother, Dornal “Donald” Lamb, two sons she parented, Reggie Hubbard (Ayda) of Virginia and Jamie Hubbard of Opelousas; four grandchildren, Malayeshia Hubbard, Alexander Hubbard, Simone Lastrapes and Jonquarues Leday; four godchildren, Michelle Simon Richard, Trellis Hubbard, Kaitlyn Hubbard and James Doomes; two sisters-in-law, Debra Lamb and Annie Mae Lamb both of Opelousas; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Willie Lee was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Doomes; her father, Antoine Doucet; four sisters, Shirley Mae Doomes, Johnnie Ruth Savoy, Josie Marie Hubbard and Carolyn Ann Lamb; three brothers, James Lindsey Doomes, Floyd Lamb and Hebert Lamb. As a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Willie “Chill Will” will be deeply missed. She was not only a beacon of light for the family but also the historian and family cook. Willie lived a life that was characterized by humor, witty and sharp verbal responses, cooking, and sharing her recipes. Willie’s home was a sanctuary, and her heart was a source of unwavering support. She always made time for loved ones. Chill Will, thank you for the love and kindness that you have shown to so many. It will not be forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. Viewing will begin at 8:00 AM at the church prior to the service. Final resting place will be in Saint Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery in Palmetto, Louisiana.
